Tagged

Well, I knew it was inevitable, but I've finally been tagged by my friend Sara Hill, so here goes. When Carol Blatter and Ammie Frehner are done reading-- they are now tagged!

WHAT I WAS DOING 10 YEARS AGO
Our family was much smaller. Jared was 1 1/2 years old and we had just moved into our house in South Salt Lake. Our first project there was remodeling the bathroom, and since we only had one, it was fairly inconvenient. We took everything out, including the toilet, but luckily we lived really close to a 24 hour Sconecutter and we ate many cinnamon and honey butter scones for about a week, because we felt like we should at least buy one half of the times we went over to use their bathroom. We got onto a first name basis with most of the kids that worked there. But it was better than the yard!

Ryan had just started working for Kennecott in the control room at the smelter. He was doing a crazy shift-- 4 nights on, 3 days off, 4 days on, 1 day off, 4 nights on, 3 days off, 4 days on, 7 days off. Whew! He continued with that shift for about four more years.

I had just gotten my job at Primary Children's and was finishing my CFY (Clinical Fellowship Year) in Speech Pathology. I had started it (my first "professional" job!) in a nursing home working for Mountain Land Rehab. One of the most memorable things about that job was a resident named Mr. Ropcke. He was a very elderly Swedish gentleman who always wanted to come to the therapy room. His bedroom was right next door to the treatment area, and he would lay in bed and yell, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaamy, Kiiiiiiiiiiiim (she was my supervisor)! Come and get me!" I was really happy when a position opened at Primary, even though some of the people at the nursing home were really cute. I had done a student externship at that hospital, and knew I like the acute rehab environment, and working with kids and their parents. The downside was it was a Friday, Saturday, Monday shift, but with Ryan's crazy schedule it gave us some weekdays off together. It's kind of funny, but it's the same job I have now, and they are really nice in letting me work one day a week, which is perfect for our family right now.

5 THINGS ON MY TO DO LIST TODAY
Well, today is Sunday, so this could be pretty brief, but I'll modify this question to cover the next few days of what I need to get done.
1. Get ready for my next coop preschool day. The theme is Signs of Spring, and since I spent over 45 minutes yesterday scooping up the dog poop that had been buried under the snow in my backyard, I'm totally in the mood for that!
2. Try to trade a Saturday in March to free me up to go on a Scrapbook weekend that I really want to do.
3. Clean the house, do the laundry, plan the meals, blah, blah, blah....
4. Read Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell a book that a friend recommended (but it's over 800 pages so that may take a while). I'm about 100 pages into it and it is really good!
5. Appreciate my son Jared for all the hard work he does! (He's sitting next to me telling me to type that!)

SNACKS I ENJOY
I could go on for pages! Tops on the list:
Chips and Salsa
Skor bars
Caramel apple suckers
Pistachio raspberry cakes
Cocktail shrimp with spicy cocktail sauce
Peanut M&Ms
Cheese and crackers (with new cheeses from Harmon's super cheese area)
Spinach dip
gingersnap cookies

WHAT I WOULD DO IF I BECAME A MILLIONAIRE
Buy and Audi TT and drive cross country with all the kids in a Winnebago following me, then I wouldn't have to listen to High School Musical. I'd buy myself and my children all homes, but at least 10 miles apart. Donate to the perpetual education fund. Give Jared a little bit (yes, he's still here).

3 BAD HABITS
1. Making rash judgments about people. My assumptions are usually proved wrong and I end up disliking myself for what I originally thought more than I thought I didn't like the other person in the first place!
2. I love to flush the toilet when someone in my house is showering.
3. Looking for spelling and grammatical errors in things other people have written and pointing them out.

5 PLACES I HAVE LIVED
1. Columbia, MO
2. Minot, ND
3. Salt Lake City, UT
4. Idaho Falls, ID
5. Rexburg, ID

5 JOBS I HAVE HAD
1. Playing dinner music at the nursing home in Idaho Falls (high school).
2. Playing organ for the First Bible Baptist Church in Idaho Falls (high school).
3. Customer service telephone answerer for Maleleuca, Inc. (junior college).
4. Library Clerical Assistant at the Family History Library in SLC, UT (college).
5. Most fulfilling and rewarding of all-- MOM to four unique kids and WIFE to a great man!

5 THINGS PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT ME
1. I started college with an organ playing scholarship. (Dork alert!)
2. I despise lima beans and sushi.
3. I can't stand dirty dishes piled in the sink- just leave them out on the counter so I don't have to fish in a pool of gook for them!
4. I sing a decent alto if I'm in a group, but I never have to sing, cause I usually play the piano for others to sing.
5. I took dancing for one year in junior high school and have never been so embarrassed in my life. We had to wear a body suit that was royal blue on one half of our body and bright red on the other. I don't even want to discuss where the sequins were. Even the teeny girls looked super-fat. I never took dance again. There are also multiple emberassing stories from my youth, that if I ever play truth or dare with you, you may get to know!
