So Long, Preschool

Last week the TumbleBus came to our house for and end-of-the-year preschool party. Sarah and several of the neighborhood children were involved in a preschool coop. All of us moms took our turn teaching the kids. It was so much fun getting to know these fun kiddos. We had eight-- six girls and two boys, and they learned a lot. Sarah can say the whole pledge of allegiance by herself now and knows most of her letters by sight. Thanks to all the mom-teachers who taught her! It was neat to see the different styles that we all used and how the kids responded to different things. I also appreciate that my daughter learned to trust some other adults and feel comfortable in different situations, not that she was very shy to start with, but it's still a good thing.

But back to the bus. The bus was the big moment for Sarah. She had been looking forward to it for weeks. A friend that I work with owns it and takes it around to parties and such. (She's actually waiting to hear from the TV show Trick My Truck to see if she gets a bus makeover or not. We're all crossing our fingers for her.) She guided the kids through climbing ropes, ladders, balancing, jumping on a trampoline (yes- inside the bus!) and taking turns- that last skill was maybe the most difficult. You can see by how red Sarah's cheecks are that she played hard and didn't stop until the bus pulled away.
.
And then, when they started to get restless, she hooked up a zip line! Wow. Those kids were in heaven. She even helped Maren get on the zipline for a few seconds. The older kids were kind of jealous that they couldn't fit on the zip line (and I have to admit I thought it looked pretty fun too).

This is also the last week of school for Jared and Rachel- you know those grueling days of field days, movies, desk cleaning and parties. Then summer is here, and things should really get crazy. I feel like there are so many things on the docket for the summer that I'm already tired.

Okay, that looks way to fun. That lady was way creative. They have got to pick her for the trick my truck...it would be perfect and for such a good purpose.

Amy,
I have to know more about this bus. Could I get it set up for Sarah's next birthday party? Is she too old for it? What does your friend charge? That looks really cool. I feel so sentimental tonight about preschool--once they start elementary it's like they're on a fast track. --Carrie

Oh my gosh! I saw that bus on Jon & Kate: plus 8. They have sextuplets who are almost 4 and they had the bus come to their house! I want to play on the bus. You will have to let me know if the bus ever comes to your house again, I want to see it! see ya tonight!
