Last weekend we went up to my parent's cabin in ID. Some good friends and family went with us and we had a great time. The cabin was just repaired after some damage last winter from the wealth of snow, and our summer was crazy, so it was our first time back in an entire year! We had 11 children altogether, and they all got along really well. We ate great and way too much, played games, watched movies, went on walks, and had a really relaxing time. We were so happy the weather cooperated with us. I got a good start on cutting pieces for a quilt that I want to make out of old Levis. Uncle Randy had his black powder rifle which the kids loved because of its loud boom. We had some marathon Monopoly and Dominoes games.
On Friday we drove to Grand Teton National Park. We picnicked on the shore of a glacial lake.
Uncle Randy taught us that there are no plants in the water because there are no nutrients in the water, b/c it melted from the glacier. Did I get that right, Randy? And the water was very cold, but we tried not to let the kids play in it. Yeah, right. But it was cool because you could see everything under the water. It was so clear.
The kids all tried out the kayaks and we spent a very pleasant afternoon. It was also nearly deserted, since it was on the verge of being too cold. We saw only a handful of other people all day. I think I've decided that it may be one of the most beautiful places on this earth.
I hope my family all wants to meet up at the cabin this year for Thanksgiving, hint hint! For more pix and some fun memories, check out our friends' blog at http://thescarrielesa.blogspot.com/.

My ignorance is showing: what's a UEA and how do I get one?
