Many of you may want to skip reading this post, since it is guaranteed to have offensive words in it, i.e. pee and poop. I just am too lazy to hit that shift key to use a number sign to utilize the euphemism for those two bodily functions. (But I'm not too lazy to write a really long sentence about it.) So, now that you've had fair warning, I'll update you.
Maren is awesome! She made it through her day at the babysitter yesterday dry all day (whew, that one was a worry) and went poop IN THE TOILET both yesterday and today! After she goes, she runs to get anyone who is home and says, "Come and see my poop." She is so proud of herself. Perhaps some of you that live close by heard her holler that to Ryan when she entered the chapel on Sunday. And the next monumental feat is that she made it through last night completely dry! She got up and let me help her into the bathroom and "go water" as she calls it. For the first day in five I don't have to wash her sheets. But I am not complaining- with another of my children (we won't name the culprit) I washed sheets daily for at least two months.
I am enough of a realist to understand that we're not out of the woods yet. Maren has grasped the basic concept that pee and poop go in the potty. However, she still has not perfected her form or technique. We are still getting pee on the pants sometimes during execution. It is still very much a spectator sport requiring an attentive audience. There can be no book reading or eyebrow plucking performed by the spectator. Maren must have my full attention during potty time. She demands it. Luckily, she is flexible and will allow her siblings or Ryan to be an audience as well, so there are parts of my day where I can actually leave the bathroom. I still haven't ventured out anywhere farther than ten minutes away if she's going to be with me. But progress has been made and now with this blog, it is documented.
Since we're talking about pee and poop, I'll share Sarah's latest. Since we watched Get Smart last week, every time she goes in the bathroom she says, "I'm going to squeeze the lemon. Yes, I said squeeeeeeeeze the lemon." Why did that have to be her favorite part? And if she's headed in to poop, Jared taught her the timeless, "I'm going to drop the kids off at the pool." She delights now in referring to her bathroom business with these quaint phrases. Isn't she adorable?
Thanks for reading about my fun bathroom weekend if you made it this far. Come on over and use our bright yellow potty chair if you want to! I'll cheer for you and then give you two M&Ms.

Reading this made me feel so close to you!! he he. Can I copy and paste this onto my blog? I would have to edit the not washing sheets part because I am still washing sheets almost every day. It's been two weeks...so I am not dismayed. It is gettin better. My problem is my boys dont think they can leave their room without me coming to get them. I didn't teach them this. I am trying to break them of this. I think it's just a carry over from being in their cribs for so long. Every night we tell them..."you can open your door all by yourself and come out and go potty all by yourself." They repeat it...but dont actually follow through!! Heaven help me!
Maren gets a big WooHoo! That's great! I wish my little man had picked up on it that quickly.
I also wish that, like Sarah, Will had picked up the phrase 'dropping the kids off at the pool' from his big brother. Unfortunately, he got it from his dear dad. Although, I have to give Will props on keeping the analogy going when he told us that 'the kids don't want to to get out of the car'.
You have also made me want to watch Get Smart
Someone hacked into my email and facebook so I had to create new accounts. Take me off of your old ones because they're not me. It has been a rough couple of days. I love your potty training stories by the way. I hope that's going good.
YAY for Maren!! She is wonderchild!! I am way way impressed. When shall I send Hank down for his potty training?
Good job Maren and I'll be right over because I'll do anything for M&M's.
I was close enough in the chapel and I gave her a thumbs up! It's important to know that her ward members support her big girl effort! I think Maren is a dolly and I can't wait until she starts bearing her testimony! I'm sure it will be the highlight of the meeting
