My cousin Maydi Eastman planned a huge benefit concert and auction last weekend for her brother-in-law who has a blood cancer. It was a huge success and they raised $26,000 towards his medical expenses. She is an awesome lady and has a big heart.
We had planned to attend as a family, but Rachel had a stomachache, so Jared and I decided to drive over to Randolph, just the two of us. It was great, because we had General Conference to listen to on the radio and the messages definitely guided our conversations. I really enjoyed getting closer to Jared on our trip. On the way there we saw about 300 head of antelope grazing, including one with a bum leg who had a friend pushing him along. I also love this time of year with all the new calves and mommy cows, not for any deep philosophical reason, I just think they're cute.
We ended up staying for the entire concert, so we had to crash at Debra's house and drive home Sunday morning. Thanks Bill and Deb for always being so hospitable. We'll be back, you better believe it! Then we came home and got ready for Ryan's moms birthday party which was also a success. Whew- I am ready for a day off, but today is dance, parent teacher conferences, achievement days, scrapbook group, scouts and young womens. I guess it's a good thing that we cancelled piano/violin lessons and swimming practice. What was that conference talk about not overscheduling our children, anyway?
