Celeb Crushes

My cousin Judy posted a celebrity crushes blog today and it got me thinking about my early crushes too. Several of ours are the same, because we often spent a couple of weeks staying with each other in the summer, and then we roomed together in college for a year. And all that work by our parents to get us together worked- we're still great friends. But if you've already read hers, you can skip down a little bit. I'll stick to the major crushes that influenced our backyard play, because if I were to list them all, it would be enormous.
Yes, as Judy reminded me, I always chose Batman and she was stuck with Robin. But she was a year younger, so she never really had a chance. Another favorite memory from days with Judy was when we pierced our Barbie's ears with stick pins while sitting on my brothers water bed-- you can imagine what happened to the water bed, and later our behinds.
I was a rebel. I always like Luke better than Bo. And I always thought Daisy was skanky. We'd go out on the deck and pretend it was the General Lee. What fun.
We weren't allowed to watch the Brady Bunch because my Mom said, "all they ever do is argue." So after school we watched The Monkees instead. Oh, how I loved Michael, Davy, Micky and Peter. I have to list them all because I could never pick a favorite. They were all so cute.
I also loved Three's Company. I'm sure I didn't even get most of what was really alluded to in that show, but it was funny. I loved Mr. and Mrs. Roper the most.

I couldn't find a picture to demonstrate another one of my favorites- it was the voice of Charlie on Charlie's Angels. It was always so mysterious that you didn't know what he was like but he sounded really cute! Now I just picture Ryan if I think of Charlie.

Remember when George was George Bennett on The Facts of Life? This was another show we weren't allowed to watch because of the title, but sometimes we'd sneak it in at friends' houses. I still think George is tops.
High school days were filled with dreams of heartthrobs from John Hughes films like The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, Pretty in Pink, and my fave Some Kind of Wonderful with Eric Stoltz.

So there you have it. I wonder who my daughters are going to have crushes on- I'm voting right now for Michael Phelps.

Love it!!! I totally forget about Eric Stotlz in Some Kind of Wonderful. And I loved George Clooney on the Facts of Life, but I could never watch it because my mom said, "All they ever do is talk about you know what."

I guess if you are 'fessing up to yours I can admit to recording and watching "Sixteen Candles" whenever it's on. Thirteen viewings haven't taken the shine off of Jake yet.

I watched Some Kind of Wonderful for the first time at your house, and every time I see Mary Stuart Masterson I think of you guys, it's funny what pops into your head even when you're not thinking of it!

lol! Amy, I want you to know that when we got our bikes I said "Amy would say we all need helmets" and we went out and got us them. Now they do us no good if we aren't always wearing them, and yes, Dacia would agree that she is the smartest one in our family.
