As a parent, having fun is rather exhausting. We decided to spend Labor Day up in the mountains, and on the docket were kayaking, hiking, cliff jumping, and picnicking. This list was supposed to satisfy all children's wishes for the day. So after an hour and a half of loading the equipment, making the sandwiches, and rounding up all our jackets since it has been hot all summer, we were off. Another hour in the car to reach a destination where we could do all those at once... the Uintas!
This was Sarah's first time going solo in a kayak. She did a great job! Jared had to go bump her a few times to keep her on course, but she stayed right with us.
So we paddled across Trial lake...
hiked a mile up to Wall Lake....
and joined a few other adventurous souls in cliff diving into a freezing cold mountain lake.
Jared and Ryan both made the climb to the high ledge. There was a guy there with a really great camera who took some series of Jared's jumps and hopefully he will email them so I can post them. I was using Sarah's pocket camera, so I couldn't get anyone jumping very well.
We had a quick snack, hiked back down, paddled back across the lake and then had our picnic.
Rachel did not enjoy the outhouse scents. It was looking like rain, so we loaded everything back up and went for home. We stopped at the Upper Provo Falls, but it was pouring by then, so we just took a quick peek. Then home for pizza and showers!

Please continue to enjoy all the access to fabulous outdoor activities for us. It's slim pickin's over here.
Sarah wear's her clothes over her nose the exact same way I do in campsite facilities. Smart girl!
I love it up there.
