I found my word for the year by picking up the dictionary and opening it. I thought I was just being silly, but my eyes went right to a word that I then couldn't get out of my head. I asked Ryan if he was interesting in doing it with me, and he wasn't. So it's my word alone.
My word is invite. I can think of several ways that this one little morpheme can enhance my life. I want to invite the spirit more into my every-day routine, not just when I'm at church. I want to invite my family to prayer and scripture study more regularly. I want to invite myself to relax and play with my children more. I want to look in the mirror every morning and invite myself to have a good day, to smile, to feel good about what I'm doing. I get to go to Guatamala in six weeks because I technically invited myself, and I want to do things like that more often. I want to find things that sound fun, and invite myself to try them out. I want to challenge myself and do things out of my comfort zone. I want to invite some unwanted pounds to leave. (Remember Marvin K. Mooney, "Will you please go NOW!") I want to open the door to new friends and strengthen relationships that I'm a part of.
And right at this moment, I need to invite myself to start folding some laundry. It doesn't sound so much like drudgery that way.

What a great idea and what a great word to happen across. Do I try it myself, or will I open the dictionary up to something like, say, regurgitate? I'll let you know.
YAY!! I love it...at first I was like...Invited? what? then your description of it was Beautifuuul. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck on your invite journey!!
I love your word and am excited for you. I love that before you even started, you invited Ryan. See, this word is destiny for you! Good luck on all your ventures this year, especially letting Sarah play webkinz all the time. :)
See, and I already "invited" you to the gym!!
I made wheat bread yesterday and I'm aiming for Monday as my bread day. I only make 2 loaves and one is gone so I don't think it will last the week but I can only make two with my wimpy mix master.
I love your word and your resolutions! Mine was to have more fun so if your invited to fun stuff...invite me along will ya?
Oooo cool word Amy. I hate to tell you this, but you already are such an inviting person. You invite me to probably the most fun things I do in a year. I want to be more inviting too. I love all the possibilities for this.
Oh and by the way, I did the numbers last night with my kids too. They really liked it. I'm considering adding a 10 to our numbers for 10 hours of sleep. They are sadly sadly lacking.
Amy, I love, love, love your word! I love this idea of choosing one word to focus on for the year. I have chosen the word LISTEN. I found your site on Carrie Finlinson's blog and am so excited to follow your adventures. Much love to you and the family.
