We decided to go to Moab mainly so we could go to Arches National Park. It's one of our favorite places to visit. Last year we bought a national park pass and it was expiring March 31st, so we decided to get one more use out of it. It was actually kind of warm the day we sent to Arches, up to 50 degrees. It was good weather for hiking, because you didn't get too hot. The last time I went on this hike was last June, and it was considerably sweatier. We hiked up to Delicate Arch which none of the kids had done before. Maren probably hiked about 1 1/2 miles total, but then needed to be carried. She fell asleep while Ryan was carrying her. I was impressed he could keep his footing with her being such a dead weight.
Jared helped carry her when it wasn't so steep. What a good big brother.
We did finally get in a picnic in and found more petroglyphs in a little cavern. The wind had picked up after our hike, so we didn't last very long. Our last stop was Sand Dune Arch which is like a giant sandbox. The kids all rolled down hills, buried themselves, jumped off rocks, and basically got completely covered in sand. It made for a rather itchy ride home and they all got immediately into a shower or bath when we finally got home that night.
All said, it was colder than we expected, but a fun diversion from the usual routine around here.

I wondered when you guys were getting back. Looks like fun, we need to do that trip sometime. Nate's bugging me everyday to get with Jared. We need to work something out. Jared looks so old! Who is he?
Looks fun! Cold, but fun. I am impressed you hiked the arch with Maren. Wow...I wouldn't even attempt that with the twins.
What a great day! You are such an outdoorsy bunch!
What a fun family adventure. I love that beautiful, barren landscape. I love making memories with my family and seeing the memories that you and Ryan are making with yours. Love you guys!
I love that you guys are so adventurous! That looks like an awesome trip!
And seriously..did Jared grow up over night or what?
Glad you had such a fun trip Amy! I'm impressed with the Delicate Arch hike--not for whimps! I am suddenly so sad that we forgot to listen to Dragon Rider--you (or someone) told me about that and I forgot! I am also suddenly grateful no one threw up on our trip. That is a scene I am very familar with.
laughing at the throw up /blanket picture! That happened to us every time we went to chicago (often as my in laws lived there and we had the only grand baby) when our oldest was little. Leather seats...I say LEATHER seats!
what a fun trip. i really need to get away
