We decided to drive south of Moab to parts of Canyonland we'd never gone to before. We went to Newspaper Rock, which is a large collection of petroglyphs, and had planned to picnic, but since it had snowed the night before, it was too cold. We did get in a short hike that was really neat because it had a few ladders in place to climb up the rock faces. Mostly we drove through the park, because whenever we got out, the wind just chilled us to the bone. Maren scratched her face walking under a bush and was pretty sad.
We had lots of car time but luckily we had a great book on tape, Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. It is 11 hours long, so it lasted the whole way to Moab, through the parks, and all the way home. We still have about 1 1/2 hours left to finish.
On the way back to Moab from Canyonlands, Maren got carsick and threw up all over. This picture is her wrapped in a blanket ecause we'd left our suitcases in the hotel and she was so covered in yuck we had to strip her. Family vacations are SO FUN!

There are always those Griswald family moments, but that pic of sisters fallen asleep hand in hand must make it worth it.
