Living the Dream

Last weekend Ryan and I volunteered for the Tour of Utah cycling event.  Ryan was a course marshal while I was a surveyor and spectator counter.
I have never been to a pro race before, so it was cool to see how fast they go and how long they can push.  We saw a few guys doing pre-race stretching while going at least 25 mph downhill on their bikes- one leg in the clips and one leg stretched behind them.  Very acrobatic.

But the biggest treat by far was meeting....Boobke.

Who is Boobke you might ask?  Well, that's what I was asking.  He is a retired cyclist who now coaches and takes pictures with cycling groupies, which apparently we have become.  So despite this incredibly unflattering photo of myself, I am obligated to post it because it's the closest we've been to fame in a long while.
(Ryan was reading his autobiography last month, and I believe he left it at the cabin, so feel free to pick it up and read it if you're up there.)  Oh yes, he signed my hat.  But don't ask if you can wear it.  I already gave it away to a more avid cycling fan.  Tom, you may have my shirt.

Baah! Ryan was giggling out loud reading his boobke book. I am so excited he got to meet him! What a treat! But I would have wanted to try on the hat. Oh well, maybe next year?

So you GAVE Scott your very own hat? That is so so sweet. He does love it. You're right.

I am going to refrain from telling you what I first thought you were referring to when I read the name Boobke.
I can appreciate Ryan's excitement. We have some good friends from way back who are huge cyclists. (That sounds like they are huge people, but I think you know what I mean.) In fact, I bet they were there.
